About The Location – Ban Phe
Tucked away in a small fishing village on the Gulf of Thailand is a
place called Ban Phe. It is about 180 km from Bangkok. The island of Koh
Samed is on every tourist’s list to Thailand, therefore every tourist
who wants to go to Koh Samed has to pass Ban Phe to take a boat to the
island.
Once you leave the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and hit the road to Ban
Phe the scene changes. The nearly three hour drive takes you through
rural and semi urban areas and once you reach Ban Phe the Ocean takes
your breath away. Ban Phe is a stretch of unending beach. The azure blue
sky, silver beach and the gentle zephyr makes you languid like
Tennyson’s ‘Lotus Eaters’. Yet this sleepy town has all the amenities
that one would require – bars, restaurants, cyber cafes and a market.
Every Monday and Thursday one can shop and eat at the temporary local
market or go to the big shopping Malls at Rayong over the weekend.
However the main attraction is the Koh Samed island which is half an
hour away and its silhouette is visible all the time from ban Phe
beckoning one and all like a temptress.
The School
Tefl International’s Asia Headquarters is in Ban Phe where the TEFL
School is located. It was the flagship school of the company and since
then has been the busiest. The school is idyllically located about 50 m
from the beach. It is well equipped with large spacious classrooms that
are conditioned. The school has computers with internet connection and
telephone facilities. There is a lounge with a TV and a small library.
Housed in the same building are the residential quarters for the
trainees. The rooms are well furnished with private bathrooms and
air-conditioning. Cleaning services are also available and all the staff
members are very helpful. There are a number of eateries where one can
buy food very close to the School.
Trainees can also stay at the Pine Beach Hotel which is at a walking
distance from the school. The hotel is located within very easy access
to the beach, the town center, a variety of excellent restaurants and
some great shopping areas! The hotel offers everything – a restaurant,
internet café, lounge area with television and video player, plus
laundry and cleaning services.
